Delicious Davao_The Dimsum Diner

Dimsum Diner - Damosa Branch
Who doesn't love Chinese food. We love Chinese foods and this restaurant is one again of our many favorites here in Davao. Almost the same price as Chowking but better! This restaurant offers lots of choices for dimsums and rice toppings. Don't miss their Yang chow fried rice and pair it with their salt n pepper or pork ribblets. I also love their honey spicy chicken (but my husband loves it more), a must try. They are open 24 hours a day same goes with their delivery hotline. We ate here thrice already and so far we are satisfied with the fast service and friendly staffs. And what I really like about this place is that, all their foods are affordable! Friends, a must try!!!

Delicious Davao_Ice Giants

Ice Giants Logo
Our most favorite snack house in Davao. A new friend of ours recommended this place since we mentioned that we love ice creams and concoctions and a likes. Great thing is that it is near the hotel that we are staying during our first month in Davao.

Ice giants is a haven of crushed ice. For me and hubby , the best place to visit to quench your thirst and cravings for concoctions, ice-creams, halo-halo and a lot more in Davao City. Sad news, they don't have any branches yet in Manila. I think they are one of the best snack house in town. They also offer sandwiches, pastas, fries and burgers. They also have cereal with ice cream menus for your little kids. Go here as a group or solo and there will always be menu to suit your ice needs and craves.

They have lots of branches in Davao but we are regulars in their Damosa and Gaisano Branch.

Explore Davao: Museo Dabawenyo

It's our 6th month of living and loving Davao and finally we decided to start exploring the different famous tourist spots in the city one place at a time.
For today, let's visit Museo Dabawenyo and D' Bone Collector Museum

Museo de Davao | Museo Dabawenyo

It is known as Davao City's "People's Museum" or Davao's "New Museum". The museum is dedicated towards better historical and cultural awareness, understanding and integration of Davao City. The museum has fine outside appearance that catches most locals and foreigners interest making them visit and have a glimpse of the past scenes of Davao in the Philippines. It has rich collections of the best and most prominent handicrafts that Davao is known of. We would love to take photos of the insides, however, it is no longer allowed according to our museum guide due to some privacy issues.

The museum is divided into four rooms:
  • The Indigenous People’s Gallery: A collection of arts, crafts, musical instruments, weapons and a like made by the different tribes who lived in the province.
  • The Moro People’s Gallery: A collection of miniature houses & boats, musical instruments, chairs, weapons, armors and crowns used by the Muslim people predominantly found in the Southern Philippines.
  • The Contemporary Gallery: A collection of classic and modern designs from wood carvings to paintings among many others.
  • The Memorabilia Gallery: A collection of olden day clothes, bills (money), musical notes, porcelains and a lot more.

Wanted to know the History of Davao in just one go? Visit this Museum. The tour guide will give you all information of Davao City’s history and its living culture and traditions. It will surely be a fun learning experience. However, it will be more fun if we'll be allowed to take pictures not just on the outside but on the insides also.

Delicious Davao_Banana Repablik

From Google Images. Saging Repablik at night
As I was browsing my Facebook timeline the other day, I came across a friend wall posting pictures of her family eating on this restaurant. And, they look stuffed and satisfied. So I told my husband if we can go here and maybe have our lunch or dinner which he happily obliged. Banana Repablik is actually a new food destination here in Davao that opened just over a year ago. They are offering different delicious banana (saging) based menu served in different creative ways. They also have this"create your own bananacue" menu which makes them more popular.

Create your own bananacue station
This 2 floor restaurant has menus for rice meals, pastas, sandwiches, desserts, beverages and of course, they have a free WIFI (hooray!!!). By the way, at the left corner of the store, they sell shirts, bags, mugs and other merchandise which I wasn't able to take a peak of the price (I'll update this article about the prices and the menu after my 2nd visit there)

Fresh Pineapple Juice
The famous yummy "Gigingka"
Hubby and I enjoying our meal :-)
Some areas to improve (on my personal opinion)... the time we visited, the place is kindda dusty, maybe because of the high ceiling and black curtains covering the glass walls against the sunlight. But overall, the place and food is good and really situated in a strategic location making it not hard to find.
If you want something new to your taste and you love "banana based" food/menus. Visit saging repablik, you'll love it.
